Kempenhaeghe (KEM)
Kempenhaeghe is a specialized expertise center and tertiary clinic for epilepsy, sleep medicine and neurocognition in neurological learning disabilities. Kempenhaeghe participates in various scientific projects on learning and behavior in epilepsy and neurological learning disabilities. Within the Center of neurological Learning disabilities there is a national expertise function and research line on “muscle and brain” where currently 2 PhD projects are in progress on learning and behavior in DMD and BMD.
The team from Kempenhaeghe will bring expertise on neuro-cognition, learning and neurobehavioral disorders in to this project as partner. The team has an outstanding expertise on neuropsychology on this topic.

Dr. Jos G.M. Hendriksen

Profile
Dr. Jos Hendriksen, PhD. is a clinical psychologist affiliated to the department of behavioural sciences of the epilepsy centre Kempenhaeghe and the department of neurology of Maastricht University Medical Centre. He is head of the department of neurological learning disabilities in Kempenhaeghe and is participating in scientific research, clinical practice and education. He participates in several scientific studies on learning disorders in general and learning and behaviour in boys/young men with Duchenne more specifically. He is an author of several peer reviewed publications on learning disorders, and psychosocial adjustment and learning disorders in Duchenne muscular dystrophy. He is co-ordinating senior teacher in child psychology and child neuropsychology. Dr. Hendriksen is a senior registrated clinical psychologist, child psychologist and clinical neuropsychologist.
Role in the project
Jos Hendriksen will be the site PI for Kempenhaeghe and will take responsibility for the collaboration and output produced by Kempenhaeghe. He will co-supervise the scientific personnel appointed on the project related to the neurocognitive and behavioural assessment (WP 5), will make an analysis plan for data generated in the project and supervise this analysis.

Dr. Philippe Collin

Profile
Dr. Philippe Collin is a senior consultant child and adolescent psychiatrist affiliated to the department ACE of the epilepsy centre Kempenhaeghe and the department of neurological learning disabilities in Kempenhaeghe. He is also head of the outpatient clinic child psychiatry of Koraal. He participated in several scientific studies on psychopathology in people with intellectual disability. He is an author of several peer reviewed publications.
Role in the project
Dr. Philippe Collin will take responsibility for the psychiatric part of the project related to the neurocognitive and behavioural assessment (WP 5).

Drs. Pien Weerkamp

Profile
Drs. Pien Weerkamp works as a neuropsychologist at the department of neurological learning disabilities of Kempenhaeghe and the department of neuropsychology of Leiden University Medical Centre. Next to her clinical work, she is a PhD-candidate researching learning and behavior i.e. the neuropsychological profile of boys with Duchenne or Becker muscular dystrophy.
Role in the project
Pien Weerkamp will be one of the PhD-students working on the project, conducting research regarding learning and neurobehavioral disorders in DMD and BMD (WP 5). She will collect data, carry out neuropsychological assessments, and perform data analysis.
