Work Package 6: Structural integrity in the DMD and BMD brain and in dystrophic mdx mice
Led by Leevi Kerkela (UCL)
Progress continues in WP6’s exploration of Becker and Duchenne muscular dystrophies. Ongoing MRI scans of patients diagnosed with these conditions, alongside age-matched control groups, have produced an extensive dataset for comparative analysis. The meticulous curation of our human MRI dataset, following the Brain Imaging Data Structure (BIDS), ensures the integrity and reproducibility of our research. This adherence not only strengthens the quality of our findings but also fosters collaboration and future studies in the field.
Furthermore, the scanning of mdx mice is now complete. A preliminary structural comparison between mdx and wildtype mice has been conducted, revealing no statistically significant differences. This outcome contributes valuable insights to our ongoing research efforts.
